Reading this sailing blog for the past few weeks makes me realize how incredibly difficult it must be to own a boat if you don't have the skills to do the mechanical work yourself. I wonder what percent of today's cruisers rely on a mechanic versus do-it-yourself?

Looking for 2/3 sailing crew for cruise. This is not a delivery trip so will be stopping at lots of places of interest ,islands etc. Require easygoing, young or young-at-heart crew. Yacht is fitted for extended voyaging/Bluewater cruising with all safety devices.

Caribbean or Bahamas - where to keep a yacht?

This is a somewhat general question but where would be a good place to moor a yacht - the Bahamas or in the Caribbean? When I say good, I mean a combination of relatively cheap-to-fly- to, close to an airport, relatively cheap and safe to moor a sailing yacht that is also a good cruising destination.
