Finding The Best 2 Persons Fishing Boats

By Craig Petersen

There are more and more people getting back to nature by turning to fishing as a favorite pastime. One of the most popular types of boats that you will see around are the 2 persons fishing boats. Some people find that they like to have their own personal fishing boat where others find it simpler to just rent the boat when needed. If you are an avid fisherman, then it is more cost effective for you to buy your own fishing boat.

Many people do not realize that owning a fishing boat is actually an investment. When you choose your 2 person fishing boat, you want to be sure to get something that will hold up to what you need it for as well as fit into your budget. If you are going with a less expensive option then you can choose from inflatable boats which can be very durable and should fit nicely into your budget.

There is also something to be said for buying a used boat. Now, you may not get a warranty as you would with a new boat but it will save you a ton of money and can be just as good as a new one. Sometimes you may find that you can get a used boat with all sorts of little extras for the price of a new boat without the extras, such as a motor, trailer and even a fish finder.

Jon boats are very popular choices where 2 person fishing boats are concerned. They can be used in different types of bodies of water and can be used with trolling motors. There are companies that are making 2 person boats that do not need a trailer to tow it as it can be lifted easily into the back of a truck by two people. Real lightweight boats are the inflatable ones as they are generally made of a strong type of rubber that is practically puncture proof. Storage with these is simple as you can deflate the boat, saving a great deal of space.

If you want the boat for more than just fishing then you can go with a sport boat that can be used for enjoying the water when you want to relax. You can go up to 30mph and burn low fuel as well.

You have a variety of boats to choose from so be sure to go with the boat that meets your particular needs. You can go with an aluminum boat, a fiberglass one or even a rubber inflatable boat. Just be sure to know what your budget is so that you stay within your means.

Caribbean or Bahamas - where to keep a yacht?

Sat, 1 Dec 2007 13:25:38 +0200
This is a somewhat general question but where would be a good place to moor a yacht - the Bahamas or in the Caribbean? When I say good, I mean a combination of relatively cheap-to-fly- to, close to an airport, relatively cheap and safe to moor a sailing yacht that is also a good cruising destination.

How do I find a repair facility for my inflatable boat? Go to a Supplier's Index and search for the listing of the manufacturer of your boat. Click there to go to their website and locate the "dealer list" to search for a dealer/repair facility in your area. If brand loyalty is not an issue, or your brand has no dealer in your area, some of the bigger manufacturers have many dealers to choose from as most dealers will repair any brand of inflatable.

Personal water crafts present safety concerns in terms of their ability to steer. Since steering is achieved from aiming the nozzle of the pump jet, there is no rudder involved, which means the craft cannot be steered in an emergency breakdown situation. Also, steering is significantly reduced when the throttle is not being applied; this leads to dangerous situations because it is against one's instinct in an emergency to accelerate. However, turning is not effective without doing so. After market products are available to help with this problem, including different types of rudder steering systems such as Cobra Jet Steering. In 2001 Sea-doo added the O.P.A.S. (Off-Power Assisted Steering) system which uses rudders installed on the rear sides of the PWC to assist in steering.

40' - 45' Bluewater Cruiser?!

Fri, 24 Oct 2008 19:10:48 +0200
I'm looking to purchase my first sailboat and I am in need of some guidance. I was leaning towards a steel or aluminum hull but most do not have a swim step and walk through transom. It sounds kind of odd but the is a top criteria for me. Three reasons: it is easier to land big fish, it is easiers to board from a tender, and I have a dog who loves the water and if she jumps I need to get her back aboard somehow. Do you know of any steel hulled sloop or cutter rigs that have a walk through transom and a swim step?! I am looking at the 40'-45' range.

Pleasure craft made in Canada, or imported to Canada, after August 1, 1981, must have a HIN marking. The HIN must be on the outside of the transom on the starboard side, or as close to that area as possible if marking on the transom is not practical. If you can no longer obtain a HIN from the manufacturer, or if the vessel is home-built, request an application package from a Transport Canada Centre to obtain one.

Ski Boat Accessories - Soup Up Your Ski Boat Fun With Ski Boat Accessories

By Charlie Johnson

If you're wondering whether or not you can afford a ski boat, you better take into consideration ski boat accessories as well. Ski boat accessories can run you a nice chunk of change above and beyond the cost of your ski boat. But certain accessories can also make your ski boat a lot more enjoyable.

Ski boat accessories can add to the fun and appeal of your ski boat. There are plenty of accessories available for you ski boat, from simple, inexpensive one's, to very expensive, pro equipment.

One of the more popular ski boat accessories around is the swim platform. You'll find this accessory on almost all ski boats.

The swim platform is mounted on the rear of the boat and allows the water skiers and wake boarders a place to get their feet wet, making it easier to get their skies and wake boards onto their feet. The swim platform also makes it easier for them to just slide into the water when they are ready.

Another important ski boat accessory is a ladder. The ladder is usually mounted on the swim platform and is designed to make it easy for the water skier or wake boarder to climb back onto the boat. When you're worn out from a good run behind the ski boat, you don't want to have to pull yourself up over the side of the boat.

Another popular ski boat accessory is the wake board tower. You mount the wake board tower on top of the ski pole (located in the center of the boat). The ski rope is then tied to the top of it. This makes it a lot easier for the wake boarder to pop out of the water and get started on his or her run.

If your ski boat didn't come with rear view mirrors, make sure to get them. You want to be able to see your water skier or wake boarder at all times.

These are some of the ski boat accessories available that can make the time you spend with your ski boat a lot more enjoyable.

The more time you spend using your ski boat, the more you'll find these and other ski boat accessories to be must haves to make you ski boat experiences as enjoyable as possible.

Learn More About speed boats

The SEADOO company has been producing personal watercraft since 1988 and will be celebrating its 20th year in business in 2008. They did however invent the sport with the first sit down Sea Doo in 1968 and 1969. However due to the engine technology of the time they abandoned the product for almost 20 years. Sport Boats were introduced in 1994 and used the same Rotax 2-Stroke engines used in their jet-skis. In 2003, SEADOO began to use Four-Stroke Rotax engines which were all fuel injected, and in certain models, were supercharged and intercooled to increase performance. All SEADOO models have 4-Stroke Rotax engines except for the one-person 3D-DI model which needs to use a 2-stroke engine in order to lessen weight. The most powerful option ever offered by these engines is Twin Rotax 4-Tec engines only in Sport Boats that combine two 215 hp (160 kW) supercharged intercooled engines used in the Speedster and 230 challenger models rated at 430 combined horsepower. Their new RXP-X and RXT-X now have 255 horsepower the most in the industry with a 0-50 mph speed in less than 2.9 seconds.

Apart from the obvious hazards of collisions and mechanical breakdowns common to all vehicles, personal watercraft feature the unique hazard of orifice injuries. Such injuries are the logical result of the unusually close proximity of PWC riders to the output end of the pump jet, as well as the fact that personal watercraft are usually not enclosed. A rider who falls (or is ejected) off the back can land directly in the path of the PWC's high-pressure jet of water. Unless a rider is appropriately dressed in garments made out of a strong, thick substance like neoprene (as is commonly found in wetsuits), the jet will easily penetrate any orifice it reaches. The consequences include permanent disability or death. For example, in 2006, the California Court of Appeal (First District) upheld a $3.7 million Napa County jury verdict against Polaris Industries arising out of one such incident (which had devastating effects on the victim's lower abdomen).

Most personal water craft are designed for two or three people, though four-passenger models exist. Stand-up PWCs were first to see mass production and are still popular for single riders. The invention of both major types of PWC is credited to Clayton Jacobson II of Arizona, originally a motocross enthusiast.

A personal water craft (PWC) is a recreational watercraft that the rider sits or stands on, rather than inside of, as in a boat. Models have an inboard engine driving a pump jet that has a screw-shaped impeller to create thrust for propulsion and steering. They are often referred by the names WaveRunner, Jet Ski, or Sea-Doo, which are brand names owned by Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Bombardier, respectively.

Today, the most common sailboat is the sloop which features one mast and two sails, a normal mainsail and a foresail. This simple configuration is very efficient for sailing towards the wind. The mainsail is attached to the mast and the boom, which is a spar capable of swinging across the boat, depending on the direction of the wind. Depending on the size and design of the foresail it can be called a jib, genoa, or spinnaker; it is possible but not common for a sloop to carry two foresails from the one forestay at one time (wing on wing). The forestay is a line or cable running from near the top of the mast to a point near the bow. In Bermuda, where a rig design influenced by the Lateen rig appeared on boats and came to be known as the Bermuda rig, a large spinnaker was carried on a spinnaker boom when running down-wind. An example of a typical sloop can be seen on the Islander 36.

Personal water craft are small, fast, easily handled, fairly easy to use, affordable and their propulsion systems, which do not have external propellers, making them safer for swimmers and wildlife. For these reasons, they are used non-recreationally in preference to small motorboats.

A major component of an inflatable boat is obviously the fabric. Inflatable boat fabric technology has evolved greatly over the last 20 to 30 years, and now includes plastomers, polyurethanes and other fabrics, which can sometimes be stronger, lighter, thinner and less expensive to assemble than the original rubber fabrics. Of course it costs a great deal of money to develop new fabrics or even to switch manufacturing processes to use them. Many manufacturers, big and small, don't have the will or the resources to do this, and that's why they generally hide that fact by resorting to condemning new technological advances in fabrics.

Hurricane DEAN - warning for the Caribbean

Fri, 17 Aug 2007 15:36:18 +0200
Hurricane Dean - a warning has been issued for the Caribbean and in particular to St Lucia and Martinique. Dean had been looking a little more ragged on satellite this morning due to some dry air intrusion, and a bit of westerly shear. However recent visible and enhanced IR satellite loops indicate Hurricane Dean's structure has improved, and may be starting the forecasted steady strengthening. In fact, the 5:00 a.m. advisory reported a minimum central pressure of 976 mb or 28.82 inches. This intermediate advisory reports a central pressure of 970 mb or 28.64 inches. This is considered a rapid drop in pressure (defined as a drop of 2.0 mb per hour). Max winds are still at 100 mph, and will take probably a couple of advisories to respond to any pressure drop. Dean is forecast to become a major hurricane in 36 hours, and is forecast between 72 and 96 hours to become a CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE with winds near 145 mph.
